Guthrie's Hometown Pharmacy

Dr. Brad Ashby grew up in Hopkinsville, Kentucky where he graduated from Hopkinsville High. After high school he worked at Save-More Drugs as a clerk and technician. He attended Austin Peay and graduated with a bachelor’s degree, double majoring in Mathematics and Computer Science.

After graduation Dr. Ashby spent time as an applications developer for the Trane Corporation, but soon decided to further his education. He attended the University of Kentucky, College of Pharmacy earning a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

Dr. Ashby took his first job as the night pharmacist at Walgreens in Glasgow, Kentucky. Soon he realized that chain pharmacy was not well suited for him, and he began working as a ‘relief’ pharmacist for several independent pharmacies.

For several years Dr. Ashby worked both as a practicing pharmacist and a pharmacy business consulting. He enjoyed helping independent pharmacists realize opportunities to help grow their businesses. He also assisted pharmacies with technologies such as implementing new software systems.

His professional interests are pharmacy technologies, long term care, and community pharmacy.

On his days off, Dr. Ashby enjoys playing guitar, arrowhead/artifact hunting, traveling, and studying Russian history.
